Cycloptic Smile is one of Guertena's paintings located in the Cyan Area of the Dungeon in the game Ib. It depicts a portrait of a smiling female cyclops, with black hair and a black dress, against a pink background, inside a gray frame. The one that Ib has to point to when solving one of the Dungeon's puzzles will make a subtle movement, such as a blink, a glance right, moving its mouth, etc.. The rest of the Cycloptic Smiles are just ordinary, lifeless paintings, and this applies to the one in the True Guertena Exhibit as well.
Location
In the room directly west of the main room of the Cyan Area, a series of Cycloptic Smiles hang around the walls. One of them will be making a subtle movement (it is random each time). Ib must choose this one to obtain the Guertena piece.
In the True Guertena Exhibit, the painting is on the northwest wall of the Cyan Room.
Collected Works of Guertena
In the Collected Works of Guertena, relating to Eyes, the painting is said to have been created in 6212.
"An eerie painting of a one-eyed woman. It's said it was originally drawn with two. It's somewhat famous for a case in which it was stolen from a museum, but then returned the next day."
Trivia
- In some versions of Ib, when the correct painting is chosen, it will fall off the wall and land on its front before giving Ib the Guertena piece.
- The painting can appear in the same room where Ib and Garry read the book about Cycloptic Smile after they read it. Garry will react by saying, "...Hm? Why is this here...?"
